2022 Renovation Outlook

The home design, building and renovation industry is always changing. What was popular last year might not be popular this year. That’s why it’s important to stay up-to-date on the latest trends in the industry. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at the home design, building and renovation outlook for 2022. We’ll discuss some of the most popular renovation projects right now and what this means for materials suppliers.

Q1 2022

The home construction industry saw a slight uptick in Q1 of 2022. This was due in part to the increasing popularity of home renovations. Homeowners are investing more money into their homes, and this is good news for the home construction industry.

During this quarter we saw that the most popular renovation projects were kitchens and bathrooms. This caused an increased demand for natural stone, tile and other materials used for these projects.

Floor and Decor reported that their net sales had increased 31.5% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to 14.3% during the same period this year.

Was home renovation spending up or down in Q1 2022?

Home renovation spending was up slightly in Q1 of 2022. This is due to the fact that more homeowners are choosing to invest in their homes. They are either renovating their home to increase its value or they are simply updating it to suit their changing needs.

What kinds of renovation projects are most popular right now?

The most popular home renovation projects right now include kitchen and bathroom renovations, as well as home additions. Homeowners are also investing in new windows and doors, and they are updating their home’s exterior.

What does this mean for materials suppliers?

This is good news for materials suppliers. As home renovation spending increases, so does the demand for building materials. Suppliers should expect to see an increase in sales in the coming year.

These numbers are not only affecting stone sales but the availability of stone as well. If you are looking to include natural stone in your renovation, we recommend planning and ordering ahead of time.

Design Inspiration

Some of the top renovation projects designers are seeing include kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor living spaces. If you’re looking for a little inspiration to get you started, we’ve got some ideas for you! Here are a few of our favorite design trends we’re seeing.

Kitchen Design

While many homeowners are still choosing light and bright kitchen designs, we’re loving the inclusion of dark and moody tones. While some designers use darker islands to anchor a space, consider taking a design risk and incorporating dark cabinets or tile all around for a BIG statement.

Bathroom Design

Bring the spa home and use bright whites, cool blues and relaxing sea tone hues to make your bathroom feel luxurious. If you’re looking for something more modern, consider mixing in slate gray, matte black, and wood tones.

Outdoor Living

In many cases, the style of your outdoor living space will be dictated by the exterior of your home, but you can always add a dash of fun by incorporating trendy furniture or adding pops of color and pizzaz through hardscaping and landscaping, which is a great time to incorporate your natural stone elements.

Home Additions

If you are looking to expand your home, here are some places to start:

  • Existing living space or kitchen: Give your kitchen or living area a face lift by adding new appliances and furniture.
  • Additional bedrooms: If you love the home but need more space, don’t be afraid to add on with an additional bedroom.
  • Outdoor living space: Transform your backyard into a new hangout spot with family and friends.
  • A home office: We are no stranger to working from home nowadays. Create  a quiet and distraction-free zone with a home office.
  • A guest house/ in-law suite: Create an additional space for your guests to feel at home in their own space.
